The Making of.. the "Gathering Wave ® Sampler"
The sampler was designed to showcase seven different albums. Picking one song from each album which would adequately reflect the other songs on the album was next to impossible. You see, the secret is that there is no "typical" song on any given album which I could point to and say "they all kinda sound like that"...Then again maybe a music critic would think otherwise.
What I decided to do was to pick out seven pieces which would work together as a stand-alone album. Okay, maybe it's a little on the eclectic side because of the different musical styles including urban contemporary, smooth jazz, space, ambient, orchestral, solo piano, chill, new age and pop. But with Gwen's help in determining the playing order, I think we got a really interesting "album" that also happens to be a sampler. Gwen also did a great job designing the cover.
After all, the "Gathering Wave ® Sampler" is a sales tool. We sincerely hope that you will be "moved" enough by one or more of the individual tracks to purchase one (or more) of the albums online. Track number eight is an interview. That's Gwen asking me the questions and keeping everything on course.
Why an interview on a sampler? It was my idea. This sampler represents an evolving body of work and each album has its own unique musical voice. For your convenience there is an eight second pause between track seven and track eight (the interview). By the way, there is no track 9, no matter what it says on the inside of the cover. We suspect the Walrus may have taken liberty with "number 9".
