The Making of.. "Martian Wonders"
I am a Martian. I was brought to planet Earth by my real parents and told that I would one day rejoin them. My purpose for this human experience would reveal itself in time. This is a vivid memory in those moments just before I can remember consciousness as a human...It is my first memory... But i'm not the only one who has this same memory.
As I got older I came to realize that many of us seem to have a similar event or remembrance. Is it an echo from a long forgotten origin? Is the music of the Martian Experience I am compelled to create the reason for my being? Or am I just an imaginative Artist who uses a fanciful perception of a possible reality which inspires greater levels of creativity?...Maybe I'm both.
"Martian Wonders" is the furthest I've ventured into real-time (quantum consciousness) composing using multiple instruments. It represents a sequence of the most fully "right-brain" musical compositions I've been able to manifest to date and serves as another musical benchmark for me as I continue to explore this unique creative process.
"Martian Wonders" is the kind of music I love to create and listen to. This is effectively a greatly expanded version of the kind of experience I have when I play solo piano. The difference here is that with the almost limitless instrumental musical palette I have at my command I can instantly react to the emotional flow as it is happening...I am able to compose with a virtual "symphony" of orchestral colors derived from real and synthetic instruments.
The result is a stunningly beautiful deeply relaxing ever flowing ambient landscape. It will both involve you and/or soothe you simultaneously. It's the kind of music that seems familiar yet gently surprises you with layers of texture and musical colors that come together to create musical horizons which continue to reveal deeper layers of musical color as you become more fully immersed as a listener.
Ultimately using what I imagined as the hidden wonders of Mars amplified and mirrored by the virtually unlimited horizon of the Western Montana landscape right outside my window came together as a powerful muse giving me an even greater feeling of artistic freedom which ultimately enabled me to more easily escape from the box of musically "forgone conclusions". I believe anyone who is seeking a musical escape will find the journey "Martian Wonders" provides, as an ever evolving experience, as they will continue to discover new levels of wonder every time they listen to it...I know I do.
